The Talk
- Exercising Empathy to Resolve Conflict at Work
- Wednesday 19th Jun 2019
- 12:00 - 12:30
85% of employees experience conflict at work. 25% have seen conflict result in sickness or absence. Are you one of them?
In this session, Whitney will help you identify instances in which we let blame and shame get in the way of effective leadership and collaboration. She will demonstrate how to apply Nonviolent Communication to everyday work conflicts, how to translate judgments into needs, and how to generate better strategies that benefit everyone.
The Workshop
- Practicing Nonviolent Communication
- Fri 21 June 19
Building on concepts introduced in her talk, Whitney will guide you in how to use Nonviolent Communication to better understand yourself and the conflicts you experience at work. This is a hands-on workshop to practice using empathy as a tool to be more effective leaders and communicators.
You will learn practical ways to give and receive empathy, simple techniques to take responsibility for your own feelings and needs, how to find new solutions in challenging situations, and how to avoid common pitfalls (what you think is empathy but isn't!).
Whitney will share many of her own personal experiences and insights. All participants will receive handouts to put these concepts into action right away.
